The band for this live performance includes piano, keyboard, bass, bandoneon and optional percussion.
The show consists of a selection of self-penned songs to lyrics by Charles Bukowski and Paulo Coelho, along with songs by Léo Ferré, Jacques Brel, Nick Cave, Tom Waits, Philip Glass, and Kurt Weill. They are stories on the edge of life, including pearls of Ute’s Song Trilogy of Poets (Bukowski, Neruda and Coelho). Of course there is always a dark side alley into the Streets of Berlin, Paris and New York, with Weill and Brel and various Jazz references, but the main road goes into this place in her heart.
After many different programs over the years, this program cuts to the edge of Ute’s heart and soul. With very simple and pure arrangements, she tells stories of life, wonder, love, doubt, and loss… tales of her own long sleepless nights.
